Ayurvedic Postpartum Care
Ayurveda is one of the oldest written traditions of complete health care for the whole
body. Originating in India and developed over the last 5000 years, Ayurvedic philosophy
imparts living wisdom, harmonizing with the rhythms of nature, to create more balance in
life. It is when life challenges our stability most that these time-honored methods
become even more valuable.
Ayurdoula offers restorative support for the new mother, with therapies that help her
rebalance her nervous system, rekindle her digestive fire, and boost erratic energy levels
so that she can master the challenges of immediate postpartum. Aligning with the
principal “42 Days for 42 Years” as being the most important time in a woman’s
postpartum care, these therapies allow her to regain a level of health that sustains her and
the family for years to come.
I am currently working through an AyurDoula internship and certification with Ysha
Oakes of www.sacredwindow.com and the Rocky Mountain Institute of Yoga and
Ayurveda. Ideally, mom can start this 24 hours after homebirth, or as soon as she gets
home. She receives the most benefit from at least 3 days in a row to gently and
effectively “reboot” her nervous system and body. All services are received at mom’s
home.*

* Home services are dependent on logistics. I serve Austin addresses and some
communities south of Austin. I need a ground floor space (or easy elevator access) to
work in, with large enough space to accommodate a massage table and working space
around it. |
